While it may be valuable to debate the value of the SAT, ACT, and other standardized examinations; the fact is that right now, no better alternative has been agreed upon. If you want to attend college in the United States, you will more likely than not, have to take the SAT or the ACT. As college admissions become increasingly competitive, having high SAT scores becomes necessary for a good shot at being admitted to any of the nation's top colleges.
